Christmastide, Ohio* was founded on Christmas Day 1892. The town is Christmas themed and is home to the Candy Cane Amusement Park, a Christmas themed amusement park opened in the summer of 1942 with a single wooden roller coaster, The Peppermint Twist, and a Reindeer Carousel. The amusement park, and the town as a whole, are major attractions and make Christmastide a tourist destination each holiday season.

In 1972, Christmastide became the location for Kringle College, the Santa training camp that takes place the week of Fourth of July each summer. During this week, current and aspiring Santas from all over the country convene to learn more about being a successful and convincing Santa.
